Forest Found, Because We Started Out There

We believe in a simple idea: Plants can help us, and we can help them. Our founder, Megan Aljian, took advantage of her free time during the COVID-19 pandemic to study traditional uses of plants. Seventeen at the time, she took that knowledge and spent four summers teaching campers, who nicknamed her Nature Meg, how to work with plants on the trail. Bug bites and stings are ever-present in the Appalachian mountains, and so are plants to treat them.

“People loved learning about plants, but not everyone gets to learn on the trail. I wanted to hand someone a bottle and say, “This comes from plants—that plant, right there—and it can do something good for you.” I want people to have this connection to the very real plants around them.”

Caught in action: Nature Meg teaching on the trail.

She spent two years developing our unique, reliable bug bite relief product infused with oak, a trusted trail remedy, and made it available to her community. She never intended to start a company, but as bottles ran out, people kept asking her to ship more, and Forest Found began.

“Plants we walk past every day can have incredible impacts on us. The knowledge of how to work with them is a part of our heritage, and something that we should all get to learn. Forest Found is not just about creating quality products, it's about protecting the places that we love and connecting us to the plants that we share them with.”

Our Values

Quality

We only make products we would give our own families—because we do.

Sustainability

We harvest responsibly and prioritize packaging that's built to be reused or recycled, like our glass bottles.

Cruelty-Free

Always tested on friends and family. Never animals.

Respect

We honor the wild places we depend on and the people who love them. That means honest ingredients, responsible harvesting, and giving back.

Conservation

Protecting wild spaces and traditional ways of working with plants is not a side project. It's part of why we exist.

What's Next

Forest Found started as one bottled remedy made for the people we love. We want it to grow into something bigger: more hardworking products, more impact, and more adventures outside. We'll keep making things we believe in, protecting the spaces and plant traditions that inspire us, and sharing the wonder that started it all.

Go together. Go beyond.
